New Year Reflections [2011]

Happy 2011!

I awoke to the last day in 2010 with this gorgeous sunrise (even the birds were nice to fly by):

May you welcome in the New Year by growing your gifts and sharing them with others so that you may be confident in your center and choose life for your path.  This way you need not disparage others or violate yourself, but show gentleness to your past, kindness in your present, and hope and purpose for your future.  Appreciate life as you're alive!

In the meantime, read about notable events in 2010.

Create peace by first being at peace N then extend peace to others (above)
These Scriptures encourage me to take courage in my decisions and to live for God in 2011:

Show me the path where I should walk, O LORD;
point out the right road for me to follow.
Lead me by your truth and teach me,
for you are the God who saves me.
All day long I put my hope in you.
~ Psalm 25:4-5 (New Living Transl.)

He said to them, 'Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed?
Instead, don’t you put it on its stand?
For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed,
and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open.'
~ Mark 4:21-22

'You are the light of the world.
A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your light shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven...'

~ Matt. 5:14-16

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

~ Psalm 21, A Song of Ascents

People plan their paths in their hearts,
but God establishes their steps.
~ Prov. 16:9 (Dena's transl.)

And a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson:

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can.  Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

Shine bright in your new year!
